DAYS AND MONTHS IN ENGLISH

• THE DAYS

Telling the days
Today is Monday. / It is Monday.
Today's Sunday. / It's Sunday.

Asking the days
What day is it today? / What's today?

To tell the days we use the preposition "on":
on Thursday; on Saturday; on Wednesday; etc

Examples:
I am going to Singapore next Tuesday.
I usually go shopping on Sundays.
My dad works from Monday to Friday.

Telling the months
It's January. / We are in January. / This month is January.

Asking the months
What month is it? / What month are we in?

• THE DATES

Asking the dates
What date is it today?
or a little longer
What's the date today?

Your answers might be:
It's the fifth of March, 2015. (BrE)
or
Its March the fifth, 2015. (AmE)

Look at the differences.
It's on Wednesday.
It's in April.
It's in 2016.
It's on April 20, 2015.
